C.C.A. Media Center
Media Center will begin checking out books on August . Email Belinda Simmons for more information.
Media Center Policies: Our media center serves many age groups
with many different needs. Students visit the media center for testing if they
have been absent from a class, for internet research, for study hall, to take AR
tests, and to check out books. In order to give each student the proper
attention he or she needs we feel that the following policies should be
instituted: Media Center hours: 7:45 - 4:00 All students should whisper when in the Media Center. Any elementary student may come to the media center during
their recess time to take an accelerated reader test. While taking an AR test, students should remain silent. Students may take AR tests from 7:45 - 3:00. Any student may take a reasonable amount of time to check out a
library book. Students that are talking excessively and called down three times
will be sent back to class along with a note explaining why they are being
returned. They will also be sent back if they are using the book sticks for
purposes other than their intention or any other physically inappropriate
action. Students will only be allowed to check out one book at a time.
(Upper grades that are reading a book as a class will be allowed to check out
two books.) If the student has an overdue book or a fine, they will not be
allowed to check out another book until the book has been returned and the fine
is paid. When using the internet, the following rules should be
followed: Before using the internet, all students must sign in. When they are
finished, they must sign out. I found this cuts down on students visiting
unauthorized sites and changing computer settings. Do not download anything from
the internet. Do not install any program from the internet, disks, cds, or any
other media. Do not change any settings on the computer. Do not check e-mail. Do
not go to any music sites. Do not use Instant Messenger and/or chat programs.
The internet should be used for educational purposes, school related work only. The Media Center Staff will be available to help a student find
a specific book and/or information for reports or other school related
assignments.
There should be no eating or drinking in the Media Center. Students should not use the photocopy machines in the workroom.
There is a copier in the Media Center for student use.
Students should not be in the workroom. Students should not enter the Media Center using the teacher
workroom door. AR points end - April 30 Last AR prize day - May 6 Last day to check out books - Elementary, April 30 All materials returned by - Elementary, May 3/Jr. and High School, date will be set at a later time Prizes will be given out every 2nd and 4th Thursday. Months
